Canine Encounters, TCOLE #4065

Did you know 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year in the United States? Did you know on an average peace officers will encounter a dog in one of three residences to which they respond? This four hour course covers the legal definition of a dangerous canine, Texas requirements for notifying the owner of the animal, where to find information about dangerous canines and how to read a dog’s body language. The Canine Encounters course is designed to meet law enforcement officers’ educational requirements as established by legislature in HB 593.

Basic Instructor, TCOLE #1014

This professional skill development course is for peace officers desiring to earn a TCOLE Instructor Certificate.

Students will receive instruction on the theory of the learning process while practicing how to write learning objectives and develop teaching materials and lesson plans. This is an intense, time consuming course. Students should be prepared for homework. The student should also be proficient in MS Word and PowerPoint; students must bring a laptop to class with PowerPoint capabilities and must have access to a printer for homework assignments.

Court Security Officer, TCOLE 10999

The purpose of the Court Security Officer class is to give the court security officer a basic understanding of the threats associated with court settings as well as technology and techniques for court security operations in compliance with Government Sec. 158.002.

To qualify for a Court Security Certificate, an applicant must meet all proficiency requirements per Texas Administrative Code Title 37, Part 7, Chapter 221, as well as completion of course #10999.

Photographing Family Violence Injuries TCOLE # 4011

This 24-hour, in-service course for licensed peace officers offers guidance on appropriately using photographs to document domestic violence cases and prosecute perpetrators. Attendees will be instructed on proper photographing techniques and given the opportunity to practice and develop skills needed to take photos that can be used as evidence in family violence cases.
