Register NOW and become a cadet in the CAPCOG Regional Law Enforcement Academy’s **100th** Basic Peace Officer Academy!! A brand new Career in Law Enforcement starts right here!

The anticipated start date for the upcoming BPOC #100 is July 10, 2023 which will be held at the CAPCOG Regional Law Enforcement Academy in Austin. (Enrolling cadets will be notified promptly if the start date is adjusted). This class will graduate approximately end of February 2024 .

BPOC 100 is a 7 month, full-time, day Academy.  This Academy runs from 7 am – 5 pm, Monday through Thursdays. Hours can vary slightly depending on class schedule.

Prospective BPOC candidates need to pass the Police Officer Entrance exam before they can qualify for enrollment in the Regional Law Enforcement Academy’s BPOC No. 100 (FT Day Academy).

The timed Entrance exam is a four-part test covering basic mathematics (calculators not allowed), reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills. Candidates must score at least a 75 average calculated on all four sections.  Further BPOC enrollment instructions will be given after the exam, so please be prepared to stay for at least another hour or so more for important information.

BPOCs are designed to meet the initial training requirements mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) for becoming a certified Texas peace officer and to prepare students to take the state’s Peace Officer Licensing Exam.

BPOC topics are taught by TCOLE certified peace officers to meet standardized objectives and to prepare students for the realities of working as a peace officer. Many subjects are taught in an academic classroom setting and others such as defensive tactics, firearms and driving are taught as hands-on practical lessons. Cadets will also participate in physical fitness training for overall health.
