Enter the Mesquite Room by entering building 310 through the CAPCOG training entrance. This entrance is located under the metal awning near the main parking lot.

The anticipated start date for the next BPOC #99 is April 10 (tentative) at the Hutto Police Department (Enrolling cadets will be notified promptly if dates or locations change).

BPOC 99 is a 10 month, part-time, night basic peace officer course (BPOC).  This Academy runs from 6 to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursdays and on Saturdays 7 am-4 pm. Hours can vary slightly depending on classes taught on any given day.

Prospective BPOC candidates need to pass the Police Officer Entrance exam before they can qualify for enrollment in the Regional Law Enforcement Academy’s BPOC No. 99 (PT, Night class).

The timed exam is a four-part test covering basic mathematics (calculators not allowed), reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills. Candidates must score at least a 75 average calculated on all four sections. Further BPOC enrollment instructions will be given after the exam, so please be prepared to stay for at least another hour or so more for important information.

BPOCs are designed to meet the initial training requirements mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) for becoming a certified Texas peace officer and to prepare students to take the state’s Peace Officer Licensing Exam.

BPOC topics are taught by TCOLE certified peace officers to meet standardized objectives and to prepare students for the realities of working as a peace officer. Many subjects are taught in an academic classroom setting and others are taught as hands-on practical lessons. BPOC also include physical fitness training for cadets’ health.
