This is for the mid-level manager (shift leader, shift supervisor, division manager, or the like), and this high-energy event will send your supervisors back to your center with fresh tools in their toolbox. This networking and collaborative learning event will pay lasting dividends in your agency as your staff leverages the contacts made during this fun day of listening, learning, and participation. This day is intended specifically for supervisors, but frontline Telecommunicators may attend if they wish – NO managers or directors are allowed.
Staffing and retention in Emergency Communications Centers are reaching crisis levels. Retaining staff is at an all-time low! We are always discussing the challenges within our work culture but do NOTHING to change it. Cannibalism is alive and well in our centers! Let’s work together to make a difference. Many of the problems have been caused by years of poor culture in our centers! It’s time to do the hard work and create better work environments in our agencies. So…
How do we change it and where do we start?
D – Determine problem areas
I – Invite others to talk
S – Share ideas/solutions
H – Help each other become better
- Kelle Hall (Highland Park DPS)
